FANTASIA film still

Disney’s third animated feature (after Snow White and Pinocchio) was, in its day, a bold experiment in blending cartoon characters and artful animation with classical music. It was also, in its day, a financial flop. The film’s eight diverse segments include Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite,” Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring,” Beethoven’s “Pastoral Symphony,” and the Mickey Mouse masterpiece “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (set to Dukas). DCP. 124 min.
