ALICE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE

United States | 1974 | Martin Scorsese

ALICE DOESN’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE film still

Made between Mean Streets and Taxi Driver, Martin Scorsese’s fourth dramatic feature is one of the director’s most moving and endearing works. It won the Oscar for Best Actress (Ellen Burstyn) and inspired the long-running TV sitcom Alice. Scorsese’s film focuses on a recently-widowed, middle-aged woman who decides to return to her California hometown (along with her precocious preteen son) and resume a singing career she had abandoned when she married. But the road home is rocky—and scary—for a newly minted single mother fending for herself. Alfred Lutter, Kris Kristofferson, Diane Ladd, Harvey Keitel, Jodie Foster, and Vic Tayback co-star. 35mm. 112 min.

Special admission $14; members, CIA/CSU I.D. holders, age 25 & under $11; no passes.
