CIA Institutional Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Cleveland Institute of Art, upon successful completion of their degree, will be able to:

  • define their aesthetic direction
  • present strategic research into a problem that leads to an effective creative solution
  • demonstrate the ability to collaborate to achieve a common goal
  • demonstrate knowledge of art and design standards in technology and terminology
  • utilize best practices of social and ethical concerns 
  • demonstrate sufficient knowledge of historical, theoretical, and critical issues in art, craft, and design to support them in innovative contemporary practice
  • demonstrate the skills of general literacy that are inclusive of the baccalaureate level of performance in reading and writing
